The Accidental Guardian

​Xu Minghao, a fourth-year design student from modern Shanghai, has always relied on two things: his dazzling visual charm and his belief in elegant fabrication. His thesis project-a kinetic sculpture meant to visualize temporal displacement-was supposed to earn him honors. Instead, a catastrophic lab accident sends him reeling through time.
​He awakens amid the dust and turmoil of Ancient China, in a kingdom on the brink of collapse. Minghao is instantly captivated by Princess Yuqi, whose fierce intelligence and regal beauty are destined for sacrifice. She is bound by duty to marry Prince Zhen, a powerful rival, to secure a crucial wartime alliance.
​Minghao, utterly anachronistic in his modern clothing but supremely confident in his looks, immediately decides the arrangement is unacceptable. ​He must now use his modern knowledge (and a spectacular array of lies about being a "Celestial Scholar" with futuristic knowledge) to navigate the perilous palace intrigue and win Yuqi's hand. The stakes are lethal: Prince Zhen, realizing this beautiful anomaly is a genuine threat to his political ambitions, is determined to expose Minghao's deception and ensure the accidental guardian meets a very permanent end.
