Loud enough for him to hear.
His cutlery scraped against the ceramic plate, his amused gaze locked into mine.
I waited patiently for his reaction,
His gaze lingered for a moment before he chuckled, light eyes glinting with so much amusement, I wanted to die from embarrassment.
"You're not, Aisha." he said, placing his fork down.
"Nonsense, what do you know about childbirth?" I questioned haughtily. He looked at me for a second.
And a second more,
His laughter boomed across the hall,
I bet if I was two stories away from here and up in my room, I would still hear him.
I rolled my eyes at how clearly amused he was.
How can you go from being cold and aloof to laughing like I'm the biggest clown in the world?
Nonsense.
I deadpanned as I watched him make amusement out of my blurt,
What's so funny?
He stopped laughing and leaned in, I held my breath as I leaned away, disliking how his fragrance invaded my nostrils and mental space.
