One fateful morning, Rafael arrived late. He had been delayed by circumstances unknown even to himself, but punctuality was a rule in The Knight. Aether, the appointed leader of the group and Rafael's closest friend in name only, glared at him with disappointment. The others exchanged uneasy glances.
"Rafael," Aether said with icy precision, "your inability to keep up has become a liability. I'm... removing you from the team. Permanently."
Rafael's heart sank. He tried to speak, to plead, but words failed him. The world around him seemed to tilt, shadows stretching unnaturally across the walls of the academy. He was no longer a part of The Knight.
Almost immediately after the dismissal, alarms blared across Teyvat. The emergency radio system, silent for decades, activated with an eerie, static-laden message: "All units, unknown entities detected. Infection spreading. Seek shelter immediately."
Outside, the sky darkened unnaturally. Creatures not seen for generations-monsters twisted by Abyssal corruption-emerged. Hilichurls, Fatuis, and even Abyss mages were no longer acting as before; their bodies and minds were infected by a malevolent, otherworldly presence. The landscape that Rafael once knew, full of familiar towns, forests, and mountains, twisted into a nightmare realm of chaos.
And just like that, Teyvat changed forever.
With The Knight gone from his life, Rafael had no choice but to survive alone. His journey had begun-not as a heroic student in a team of legendary adventurers-but as a lone wanderer in a collapsing world. Every step could be his last. Every shadow could conceal a monster. Every encounter could end in death.
