If Emma could pick anywhere to live, it wouldn't be Blue Hill, Maine. She hasn't been there since she was 10, not since the messy divorce that forced her to move to the other side of the country. Now, after living on the beaches of Los Angeles for seven years, she's finally putting her past behind her. A competitive swimmer beginning her senior year of high school, she's on track for a scholarship to a prestigious college in California- even though her grades aren't exactly up to par. Her father and ex-best friend are the furthest things from her mind- life is good. But after a tragic accident that leaves her and her younger brother without a mother, she has no choice but to pack up her whole life. Blue Hill is tiny- she can practically kiss her scholarship goodbye. Her father has made it clear that he doesn't want them anymore; he has a new family to worry about. His new four year old daughter is priority to him and Emma's step-mother. Her step-sister has to be perfect at everything, ruining any chance Emma has of making things right with her father- not that it was going to happen anyways. And when she runs into Nick Hutchison, the boy she used to call her best friend, things are about to get even more complicated. Can Emma learn to love Blue Hill again, or will she continue to push everyone away like always?
