After downing a Night Fury (Toothless), he befriended the beast, seeing the lie in his tribe's harsh laws. Burdened by guilt, they fled Berk to a Northlander's haven where he found acceptance and a new forge. There, he learned of the true menace: Drago, a wicked Warlord building a mind-controlled Dragon Army to seize the Archipelago.
