#2 in the narcissist series
Standalone.
"I don't understand why people call their partner the moon. Like it's obviously just inaccurate" I started nowhere.
"Think about it, it's just a round full of crater planets. And it's just reflecting light from the sun. why does it have to be so beautiful" I finished, daringly looking at Peter.
I never liked the moon; it was just always getting too much attention it doesn't deserve. And it's always nothing compared to the sun. no matter what it can't compete. Just like me. borrowed light.
Peter sighed, "Why do you only see the moon as a borrowed light planet?
In my eyes, the moon is the most beautiful thing. not of this world, yet selfless enough to give us light when we've none. Can you imagine an earth without it-scientifically?"
He let out a breath, eyes still in the sky. "To be honest everything in this world-everything that comes and goes-will always be compared to the moon, it's not just borrowed light.
The light it borrows is enough to help others see in the dark. that light was never a curse; it's a blessing, even if you haven't realized it yet."
For a moment I wasn't sure if he was talking about the moon at all. I turned to look at him. Those green eyes, steady, unbearable, he said things I wasn't meant to understand.
And yet, I did. He wasn't talking about the moon. Not anymore.
