Lilian Henderson has always stood out as uniquely herself. With her baggy clothes that seemed to swallow her frame, carried a battered Walkman that blasted her favorite rock music, and her unmistakable black box-dyed hair, she carved her own path in a town where fitting in felt impossible. Despite her strong sense of identity, she often found herself living in the shadow of her younger brother, Dustin. Dustin, who was the heart of his group of friends, gathered regularly for their Dungeons & Dragons campaigns that filled the Henderson house with energy and loud teenage boys.

One chilly autumn night, Dustin was hosting one of these campaigns, inviting his friends to crash for the night. The basement was scattered with sleeping bags and dice.
