Hunter clans rule the known world in the pursuit of removing the parasitic vampires plaguing the land. Three types of vampires exist and each one more devastating than the next. Ferals run amok like rabid dogs, and turn their victims at every opportunity. Tamed vampires retain their sense of self, and try to adapt to human life while playing with their food. The most dangerous of the three are the tainted. Not only are they notoriously deadly, they cannot become feral, they hold the power to manipulate blood to rule over humankind.

Morgan wakes up to find himself severely injured and without his memory of even being a hunter. He's in the care of a silent, mysterious man that claims to be a 'healer,' Ambrose. Though, Morgan suspects there's more to Ambrose than he's willing to share. As the healer constantly forces him to drink medicine, purposely leaves out details during their conversations and obviously wants to push him off onto the next human as soon as possible. It doesn't help that Ambrose always wears a mask to hide his face.

As Morgan becomes more comfortable with his new life, he seeks new knowledge to hide his secret fascination with vampires. This obsession worries Morgan and it's clear that it makes Ambrose anxious. Yet, somehow they still become close, even with Ambrose's hesitations.For the first time, Morgan finally feels like he has a home.

However, the past can't stay veiled for too long. Blood, violence, death, and love intertwine in Morgan's fate. What will happen to him once he regains his memories? Why does he feel like they are connected to Ambrose? What secrets does Ambrose hold?
