Life or death (Kakashi x oc)

In the Academy, they sit only a few desks apart, two prodigies moving through lessons with practiced distance. Kakashi Hatake keeps his head down, bound by rules and expectations, while she exists on the margins, observant and self-contained, never close enough to him to matter. They know of each other, but not each other, just names on attendance sheets, passing glances, the unspoken understanding that neither of them needs anything more.
Then the world begins to take things away.
Loss reshapes them in different ways, carving cracks where certainty once lived, and it's in those fractures that they finally collide. Shared grief becomes a language neither of them has to explain, and slowly, guarded companionship grows into something deeper, something dangerous. As missions grow darker and the shinobi world demands more than either was prepared to give, they must decide whether connection is a weakness... or the one thing that might save them both.
