Kai Winston-the girl with a bad reputation following her around. She never meant to become the "problem kid." She only fought when she had to, especially when bullies pushed her past breaking point. But after one brutal fight gone too far, leaving students badly injured and Kai suspended from yet another school, her parents had finally run out of options. With no schools left willing to take her in, they sent her overseas to Seonghwa Academy, an elite international boarding school specifically for troubled kids right in Seoul, Korea.

Kai expected Seonghwa Academy to be a nightmare. Strict teachers, high expectations, and students who had already decided they didn't like her, but when she arrived, those expectations were merely just expectations. What she didn't expect was
the messy, complicated, strangely vibrant world that existed behind its polished hallways. She found people who understood her, friendship where she least expected it, and attention from a boy who caught her eye.

But nothing at Seonghwa was simple. Especially not the girl who lived in her dorm, the one who met Kai's stubbornness with her own, and made Kai question her sexuality more than ever. Somewhere between late-night arguments, reluctant respect, and emotions she wasn't quite sure how to name, Kai began developing feelings for the girl she swore hated her guts. The realization complicated everything, especially as her attention drifted away from the boy who liked her and toward the girl who barely tolerated her.

Beneath the chaos of school life, trouble lurking outside of the academy's walls started to brew. When violence crept too close to the people she cared about, Kai realized that surviving bullies back at home had been nothing compared to living here. She thought she was sent to Seoul to be fixed. Instead, she found out who she was and the true evil that lurked within the streets of Korea.
