Orphanages; so many children, each carrying a story. Some whisper, "They abandoned me." Some weep softly, left alone by the roadside. Some scream in silence, "I was barely alive... I have no parents... I am lost." Every story hurts, doesn't it?

But Maya... Maya was different.

She found peace- not from the orphanage, nor from the well-meaning strangers around her, but from another little soul. Older, gentler, but never condescending. A boy.

Maya swore she heard his name once: Ekansh.

Week after week, they met. They laughed. They played. They promised to always remember each other. And then, three years later... He came, and she was gone. Adopted. He was told she had left.

He told himself that some things happen for the best. That he would remember her. Even if he never said goodbye.
