In Our Veins

Spencer has these marks on his skin. They look like veins bleeding a dark black ink.
Not many people have these marks, but those that do are considered to be at the very bottom of society.

Elio is the typical, perfect golden boy- the exact opposite of Spencer.

Elio is curious and Spencer is terrified.

In fact, it's fucked.

While some people are seen as clean, good, or holy, the rest are left to the gutters.
"Dirty"
"Monsters"
"Mistakes"

It's not always obvious, who's the mistake and who's the chosen.
Sometimes the mistakes are smart, resourceful, cunning.

They can hide the blemishes, the marks, that stretch like bleeding veins across their skin.

But once those marks are seen, there's no hope left for you.

There's no way to deny you belong with the recluses and the severely broken.
There's no way to deny your destiny as one of the unfortunate and damned.

These marks, these patterns, they don't care who you are, where you come from, or what you believe. If you are marked, you are dropped to the bottom of the food chain. You are seen as a problem, an evolutionary error.

Once these stains begin to bleed under your skin, there is no getting rid of them. There is no slowing down their spread.
You can only hide and pray to go your life unseen and unnoticed by the members of the "clean" society"
