Twenty-five years ago, a fatal accident on Mount Everest shattered the bond between Ethan Mercer and Caleb Wright. Once inseparable climbing partners, they went their separate ways in the aftermath ─ Ethan returning to the mountain year after year, Caleb abandoning it entirely.

Now, decades later, fate reunites them on Everest as part of the same expedition. Older, estranged, and burdened by survivor's guilt, they are forced into close proximity with each other ─ and with the memory of the girl they failed to save. As the climb grows increasingly perilous and the altitude strips away their defenses, long-buried truths begin to surface.
