The Refinery Wars are officially over.

Kael Virex knows that's a lie.

Her home world was burned for cinder fuel, her lover sealed behind a blast door. and the people responsible called it an acceptable loss. Now Kael flies the last call through dead routes and cold orbits, hauling cargo and ghosts in equal measure.

When she crosses paths with a Driftfolk survivor who sees patterned where others see coincidence Kael is forced to confront the possibility that the war never ended. It just learned to repeat itself more quietly.
