Unexpected Surprises

When their paths crossed, nothing dramatic happened at first. No lightning, no declarations. Just a pause in the air, as if time had briefly forgotten to move.
Their story told in fragments. Shared glances lingering a second too long. Conversations drifting into a mutual silence. They never said what they were to each other, yet everything around them seemed to know. The wind softened as they walked side by side. Ordinary places-empty hallways, fading afternoons, half-lit streets--felt altered by their presence, as though something unseen followed them closely knowing what unexpected surprises were in store.
