Lucy Gilbert and Gavin smith were best friends, had been since Gavin helped Lucy up from being pushed on the play ground. she had been depressed that day, still was but it had gotten worse. they grew closer and recognized there love for each other. Gavin helps Lucy with her problems. then gavin gets sick, he is taken to the hospital to get scanned, they find that he has stage 4 lung cancer. they don't have much time together and they both know it. Lucy does not know if she's going to be able to make it when Gavin leaves but she made a promise to him that she would stay and live her life happily. to find love when she doesn't think she can. so she promises.

"How many romance books do you read?" Devin asks me. I shrug. "I like them," I say. I keep browsing, running my fingers along the spines. "So, you like romance then?" he asks me. I nod. Hope has always expected the worst when it comes to people. Although who could blame her? Since she was about the age of five Hope and her brother Gavin have been in foster care. They never knew their father. Before they were born he had left their mother to be a teen mom on her own. As for their mother to them, she was the most wonderful and caring person they knew. To everyone else she was A depressed mother that had spent more time on drugs than off of them. She cared about her kids she really did, she just didn't know how to handle them. Hope has always been there for her little brother. She hides all of her problems and focuses on her twin brother making sure that he is always happy and dosent know about her problems, because honestly at this rate shes turning into their mom. "Daniel asked me to be his girlfriend," she spoke softly. The color rushed out of my face hearing the few words making my mouth grow dry. Tears feel like waterfalls as I quickly shut the door before they could see me. Just as I thought I was unseen, Daniel's glance had something; pain. - They were so different. One was living his dream preforming in sold out concerts while the other was scurrying through her last couple months of high school. Maybe it was fate that brought them together - or maybe it was destiny, but obstacles built strong allow their relationship to become unstable. Besides, she could never do that to her best friend.
