That was the plan, anyway-until "normal" dropped him into a rotting lodge on a mountain overlooking a town that hates his last name.

With his mother halfway around the world and his father long gone, James is left in the care of Uncle Robbie: a well-meaning recluse more interested in squatching through the pinewoods of Eagle's Pier than raising a teenager. The town itself is postcard-pretty and quietly poisonous, shaped by generations of greed and oppression at the hands of the Cobb family-James's family. All that legacy has left behind is a lonely lodge on a lonely peak... and a lot of resentment.

The locals say the mountain is haunted, both in the metaphorical way and the real way. Angel says she's seen the ghosts. Desperate to prove she's not crazy, Angel drags James into a late-night stakeout that uncovers something far worse than spirits... true magic and all of its terrible consequences.
