Captain William Ashford, a veteran of the Flanders Campaign of 1794, has returned to England after being injured in the leg in the low countries. Mostly recovered from his wounds, but still walking with a pronounced limp and a cane, he is struggling to find his place in London society. One evening, leaving Almack’s after an evening of socializing, and walking through London’s dark streets, he foils an attack on a fellow soldier. Thrown unexpectedly into a cross time-continuum covert conflict much larger than himself, Ashford will find himself faced with difficult decisions and situations that he has never before considered.
