"I am the debt the Usurper forgot to pay." To the Seven Kingdoms, Prince Aegon Targaryen is a tragedy, a babe murdered in his nursery, his skull crushed against a wall. To King Robert Baratheon, he is a ghost that stayed buried. They were wrong. For fifteen years, Aegon has lived as a shadow on the Rhoyne, raised on a rotting pole-boat by a man who breathes only for revenge. He has been taught to hide, to lie, and to dye his hair the color of a bruised plum. But as the mists of the Sorrows close in, Aegon makes a choice that will set the world on fire: He will no longer hide. With his silver hair a target for every assassin in Essos and nothing to his name but three cold, stone eggs, Aegon begins a desperate journey to reclaim a throne he has never seen. But the path to King's Landing is paved with more than just blood. From the haunted ruins of Chroyane to the golden tents of the Golden Company, Aegon must battle the ghosts of his father's failures and the growing madness in his own blood. He wants justice for his murdered mother, Elia Martell, but the Iron Throne demands a monster. Can he win a kingdom without losing his soul?
