Born beneath a full moon that refused to fade, Kailoq is the son of princess Yue of the northern water tribe-a child the spirits spared, even after his mother gave her life to become the moon spirit. Raised among ice and Silence, Kailoq grows with the weight of a legend he never knew and a power the tribe both reveres and fears. His waterbending is unlike any other: calm as still ice, fierce as the turning tide, strongest beneath the moonlight, as if the moon remembers him.

Though Kailoq has never known his mother's voice, he feels her presence in the pull of the tide and in the glow of the night sky. The elders whisper that he is more then a waterbender-that he is the bridge between the spirit world and the living, marked by the same light that that restored the moon.

when Avatar Aang, Katara, and Sokka arrive at the northern water tribe, fate stirs. Katara senses something familiar in Kailoq's bending-gentle, precise, and deep emotional. Aang feels the spirits move around the boy, restless and watchful. And sokka... Sokka sees Yue in him Her kindness. Her strength. Her smile reflected in a boy who never knew her, yet carriers her legacy in every breath.
