The Bet with Death

In a world where everyone is supposedly treated equally, lies a government who makes the whole population of the world, aged 7-49, partake in a fight for survival. All in the purpose of population control.
When 15 year-old River gets a letter from the government, saying he's partaking in this fight to the death, he knows that he's either cooked in a good way or a bad way.
He's going to start making choices that will affect him in the short run, but affect everyone around him in the long run..

(P.S., just a disclaimer about the cover that's probably useless, the cover was made by Canva ai, and although I don't support the use of AI in writing or art, I'm very much broke and I can't hire anyone to make a cover for me, given that I don't know if this will flop or not. I thought it would be a nice thing to note, to be transparent with the audience because I know that ai isn't good at all for the environment, but it is only on the cover that's generated by ai. The name, and what will be written will be fully human made by me, sorry about this whole tangent, I just thought it would be a heads up for y'all bc I don't wanna get comments about "oh, the cover looks ai generated, that means the story must be fully ai too!" I swear on my whole life that the only thing that everything else is created by a human!)
