Redvale High School opened in 1921, built of red brick and optimism. The town needed something solid after years of hardship, so they ignored the rumors about the land beneath it-old tunnels, burned buildings, things better left buried.
The first student disappeared before the school year ended.
By the next fall, no one remembered his name.
THE CYCLE
Every 27 years, something wakes up inside Redvale High.
Students vanish.
Accidents increase.
The bell rings when no one touches it.
The town calls it coincidence.
The school calls it malfunction.
The children feel it watching.
THE ENTITY
It is known only as The Smiler.
A demon that feeds on fear and imagination, appearing as whatever terrifies you most-a trusted teacher, a dead classmate, a grin where a face should be. Adults can't see it anymore.
They forgot long ago.
1970
By 1970, Redvale High is old, cracked, and tired. Some doors don't lead where they should. Some hallways feel colder than others. Students joke about it, because jokes are safer than the truth.
But a small group of kids start seeing the same things. Hearing the same laughter. Dreaming of the same tunnels beneath the school.
They realize the truth too late:
The Smiler is awake again.
And this time, it doesn't plan on going back to sleep.
