A Dream Within A Dream Anaya Lazaar hasn't been home in years. Not since she had her heart so viciously broken by the only man she ever loved. But now, her father is dead. And the horrors that linger in the walls of Harebell Hall have awoken, threatening to tear down the House of Lazaar for good. Anaya has to go back. Back to her brother and sister. Back to Harebell Hall. Back to the place she lost it all. **** This is Book 1 of The Rise and Fall of the House of Lazar series, a modern retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher, a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1893. This book revolves around Anaya Lazaar and Rhys Valois, and is set right after the death of Anwar Lazar, the family patriarch. It will contain an occasional flashback. Much like in the Fall of the House of Usher, the House and the Lazar family are deeply intertwined, each one of their stories filled with despair. This story is a dark retelling. Be warned.

Seraphina Calloway always believed she would recognize betrayal if it ever came near her marriage. She imagined it loud. Obvious. Unforgivable. She never imagined it would look like this. Like her husband smiling at another woman the way he used to smile at her. Like late-night messages that weren't inappropriate - just intimate. Like emotional comfort slowly being outsourced. And she definitely never imagined standing outside a glass office in downtown Los Angeles... Watching her husband hesitate before pulling away from another woman's lips. The kiss wasn't hungry. It wasn't desperate. It was worse. It was familiar. And in that single second - She realized she had already been replaced emotionally long before that moment happened. She didn't scream. She didn't storm in. She simply turned... And walked away from the life she thought was unbreakable.
