They called it an experiment.
With the homeless population rising in Albuquerque, the deregulation zone was created. A vast stretch of empty desert where the homeless could claim a piece of land and make home, at the cost of spending every day in defense of it.
No taxes. No laws. No safety nets.
What they didn't expect was the artists, the anarchists, the off gridders, the dead-beat dads, the kids crushed by student loan debt. For some, it is a daydream of living life fully on their terms. For others, it is the last hope to make a home, find purpose, and make family wherever they can find it.
Some come to disappear. Some come to be belong.
