The pain only grew and for the first time since the death of my mother I felt fear, it ate at my conciseness and contributed to the pain. Kanda looked down at me, the light from the sun faded, and I felt the comfort of a bed. Kanda knelt at the side of the bed beside me, his hands clasped around my left hand.

I listened to Kanda sob, the sound of it making the pain in my heart grow greater, but it was different from the other pain I was now realizing was starting to grow slack. My heart slowed, my world cleared, and breathing was easier again. I felt a sensation that I hadn't felt since I was fifteen. Slowly, ever so slowly, I felt the sensation and welcomed it, the feeling I felt when I was running from akuma and the order as a young girl before I was sixteen, before I met the witch. I had almost forgotten how this sensation felt, it had been so long, almost three full years, freedom.
