There are rules in the NHL that never make it to print.

They are learned in passing comments and tightened jaws.In doors that close just a second too quick. In the way players glance towards the press box before answering certain questions.

I learned them long before I ever held a recorder.

Don't chase stories that ruin careers.
Don't confuse access with intimacy.
And Never- ever- become the story.

I thought I understood those rules.

Until Lucas Hale looked at me like I was something more than just a girl with a notebook.
