The last New year

Set in the snowy town of Silvercreek, Colorado, the story follows the chilling tragedy of the Sterling family on New Year's Eve. While the world celebrates the transition into a new year, a ritualistic killer known as the Stranger infiltrates their home. Driven by a twisted philosophy that death at the peak of happiness "preserves" a family forever, he murders Julian, Elena, Toby, and Clara just as the clock strikes midnight.
The story then shifts to Detective Silas Vance, who spends a year obsessively tracking the killer. Silas discovers a pattern of similar murders occurring every five years across the country. The Stranger, sensing Silas's pursuit, decides to break his own five-year rule to target the detective. On the first anniversary of the Sterling massacre, Silas is lured back to the empty estate. In a final, violent confrontation, both the detective and the killer are mortally wounded, dying together on the same rug where the Sterlings fell, forever linked in the silence of the new year.
