"I need you, 8"
Casey Lordan has never been subtle.
She's loud, inappropriate, boy-obsessed, and fully aware of it. Raised in a suffocatingly religious house with a volatile mother and a father who thinks control is care, Casey learned early that rebellion was the only language anyone listened to. If she's going to be judged anyway, she might as well enjoy herself.
Alec Dempsey doesn't enjoy much of anything.
BCS is just somewhere to show up, get through the day, and go home to a house that smells like alcohol and disappointment. With no mother and a father who disappears into the bottle, Alec keeps his expectations low and his walls high. Survival, not happiness, is the goal.
They're not a soft love story. They're sharp edges and bad habits and tension that starts as jokes and turns into something neither of them knows how to handle. Casey's batshit behaviour crashes straight into Alec's restraint, and somewhere in the mess, they recognise something familiar - the ache of being unwanted in your own home.
What starts as attraction turns into reliance.
What turns into reliance becomes dangerous.
Because when two broken people start needing each other, the line between escape and destruction gets thin - and neither of them knows how to let go without losing everything.
