Fifteen-year-old Courtney Anderson has been through a lot. She was forced to grow up extremely fast. At the tender age of thirteen, her mom passed away, leaving her with her now seven-year-old brother and her father. Once her mother died, her once loving, caring father, turned into a drunken, rage-inflicted monster. He ignores Courtney and her little brother, leaving Courtney to become the women of the house. He has barely said a word to them since their mother died two years ago. With the stress of basically becoming a parent, Courtney finds an unhealthy way to deal with her problems – self harm. An already insecure Courtney has been cutting her wrists for the past two years and hasn’t told anyone – not even her closest friends. Everyone has been telling her to stay strong since her mother died, but now Courtney isn't feeling so strong anymore. Then she comes face to face with an old friend, Austin Mahone. Austin has changed since Courtney last spoke to him. He became obsessed with popularity, and doesn't care about anyone but himself. But Courtney senses a change in him. Will Courtney finally crack under the pressure? How long will she be able to keep her little secret? And will she find the one thing she desires the most – love? Will Austin be the person to finally make Courtney feel beautiful, important, and like she’s worth something? Or will heartbreak cause Courtney to become even more weak then she was two years ago? This is the story of how an insecure, broken teenager fights off rumors, reputation, and lies to win the battle of love.
