Even Children Get Older

Layla Harrington loves science. The rules, the patterns, the predictions. So when one of her best friends goes missing, just as a girl with superpowers appears, she is extremely out of her depth. This should be way bigger than their party, a group of children supposed to be gathered around the D&D table, but it's still up to them, three teens, and two other adults. Landslide victory, right? But even children get older, and so does a threat that doesn't die. Not yet, anyway. And that makes the threat very very scary. Layla is also currently not factoring in her crush on one of her best friends and then on a stubborn redhead who won't let it be. That's not important to the formula. Right? Superpowers defeat the bad guy, not completely undesired feelings. Especially when they are tangled into each other like a fly in a web.
