Everyone thinks they know Maya Sokolov. The spoiled twin. The pretentious one. The mean girl. There are two versions of Maya Sokolov. The one the world sees; beautiful, cruel, untouchable. And the one buried underneath; guilt-ridden, silent, and slowly falling apart. What they don't know is that guilt can rot a person from the inside out. That silence can be taught. No one notices the difference. No one cares to. Except Vaughn Morozov. He doesn't care about rumours. He was raised to control everything. His emotions, his choices, his future. But Maya Sokolov doesn't fit into his systems. The way she smiles like it's armour. The way she provokes like she wants to be hated. The way she looks like she's already lost everything. She's loud where he is silent. Reckless where he is precise. Untouchable, yet constantly falling apart beneath the surface. People like Maya don't break like that for no reason. He wasn't supposed to look twice. But once he does, he can't stop. And when control is all you've ever known, obsession becomes the most dangerous thing of all.

ILYA LEVITSKY & MAYA SOKOLOV Do you know that urge to vanish, to simply cease to exist, not out of a desire for nothingness, but to spare others the burden you fear you've become? Yet, you hesitate, knowing that your disappearance might be the ultimate inconvenience-a role you've inadvertently perfected over a lifetime. Or do you know about the unsettling suspicion when you long for someone's affection, and they echo your sentiments, but a silent voice within you casts doubts. Perhaps they don't long for you, as you do for them? That's the turmoil I'm wading through, a maelstrom of emotions that's been brewing for some time. It's a deluge that overwhelms me daily, each breath a struggle. The faces of those I've inadvertently harmed seem to flicker in the shadows, their expressions unreadable. I'm yearning for redemption, to right my wrongs but the fear grips me-what if there is no absolution? Not because it doesn't exist, but because it's being withheld from me?
