MaryAnna thought her life was perfect. She had friends, a father she adored, and a home that finally felt safe-until the summer of 1983 shattered everything. Her dad's corporate job was relocating him from Chicago to California, but this time, he wasn't taking her with him. Instead, her mother decided it was time for MaryAnna to come back to her hometown.
Hawkins, Indiana.
A place MaryAnna despised with every fiber of her being. Middle-of-nowhere streets, suffocating memories, and a past she worked hard to escape. She hated it when she was younger, but now she hated it even more. Her mother had remarried-a well-respected town doctor-and lived in a pristine suburban neighborhood, right next door to the boy who made Hawkins unbearable.
