June Turner is mostly content with her life in Hawkins. It's normal, routine, and she'll be off to college in a few years to some new city with new people where she can start over. She doesn't expect that agreeing to babysit for Dustin Henderson for the first time in years would lead to anything more than their old chess games and irresponsible bedtimes, but her normal life is turned on its head when she discovers an unlikely group monster-hunting at the old junkyard. Wrapped up in a world she didn't know existed, she sparks up an unexpected friendship with the former "King of Hawkins" himself, Steve Harrington.

He is slowly, frustratingly, trying to be better. She prefers to keep her feelings at arm's length, which is getting more difficult the more time they spend together.
