Afton has always trusted measurements. Time. Distance. Cause and effect. If something goes wrong, there is always a reason. Living out of an RV with an aunt who barely notices him, Afton keeps his life simple: school, physics, routine. He wears his grandmother's old watch and checks it out of habit, not because he's anxious-just because it's always been there. Then, in the middle of an ordinary class, time hesitates. Only for a second. Only enough to be wrong. No one else seems to notice. The lesson continues. The day moves on. But Afton knows measurements don't lie, and watches don't pause without cause. As small inconsistencies begin to surface, Afton is forced to confront a question he never expected to ask: What happens when the rules you trust are already broken?
