Mary has always lived her life in contentment and peace, until unfortunate news broke that pushed her to face her own fate. Mary discovered that her cancer has progressed and it is about to take her life at any moment. One of her dying wishes is to reunite with her childhood best friend whom she hasn't seen for the past nine years, hoping that she could somehow bring back the bond with her only friend before she draws her last breath. Samuel's dark past still haunts him to this day and his only way to cope with it is his passion for music. He is an aspiring artist, finally building a life of his own and carving out a name for himself, until his father, who resented his dreams and denied him his freedom, makes him an offer. In exchange for the money and independence he has always craved, Samuel must fulfill one request that forces him to confront his past: He needs to return to his childhood best friend, Mary, after nine years of shutting her out of his life. But little does he know that committing to this request comes with the biggest heartache. This is a story that captures friendship, love, family, and loss. As Mary and Samuel try to rebuild the friendship that was once broken, a deeper connection starts to unfold between them, leading them towards this beautiful crossroad that might lead to an agonizing end.

Valeria didn't rush. She never did. Inez was pinned beneath her, wrist locked overhead, the hold precise and impersonal. Not pain. Control. Inez scoffed anyway. "That's it?" she sneered. "I've had tutors scarier than you." Valeria said nothing. The silence pressed in. "You don't scare me," Inez added, louder. Brattier. "You just-" "Enough." One word. Flat. Final. Valeria lifted Inez's chin with two fingers, detached as a correction. "Look at me," she said coolly. "If you're going to embarrass yourself, do it properly." Inez laughed, brittle. "You think this makes you powerful?" "I don't think," Valeria replied. "I decide." Her gaze never wavered. "You provoke because it's the last control you have." "I don't belong to you," Inez snapped. Valeria leaned in, voice razor-thin. "You are my wife. You belong to consequences." She released her grip. "Say it." "No." Valeria waited. The quiet broke Inez, she hated being ignored. "...I'll behave, I'll be a good girl" Inez muttered. "Specify." Inez swallowed hard. "...I'll be your good girl" Valeria stepped back, already distant. "Good," she said. "Remember why." #1 older women-13th February (FAST PACE BOOK)
