The hand that stopped me

Friday begins with words that are never taken back.

Katsuki Bakugo has always trusted his mouth more than his thoughts. He speaks on instinct, on habit, on the certainty that nothing he says could truly matter this much. Words are sharp, but fleeting. That's what he's always believed-until silence starts answering where Izuku used to.

Izuku Midoriya learns how to endure before he learns how to stop caring. At first, he holds on-counts breaths, curls his hands tight around the fragile idea that things might still change. Then something shifts. The effort grows heavier. The air stops feeling worth the work. Letting go becomes easier than holding on ever was.

They exist on opposite sides of the same moment, divided by what was said and what was never meant to be taken seriously. One keeps speaking, unaware of the damage settling deep. The other grows quieter, lighter, frighteningly calm.
