World in Half: The World is Upside Down

Itchirou Hayase is the gifted son of two renowned Special Class investigators of the Commission of Counter Ghoul, who were both killed seven years ago in an assault orchestrated by the now infamous One-Eyed Owl. Their deaths left behind a legacy made in blood, and a son determined to live up to it.

Now a top-ranking cadet, Itchirou is assigned to the 20th Ward as part of the CCG's local defense force, partnered with his close friend and fellow junior investigator, Akashi Sato. His first taste of real combat, however, leaves Akashi gravely injured and Itchirou suspended, forcing him to confront failure for the first time.

During this suspension, a chance encounter with the elusive Takatsuki Sen pulls Itchirou into a world of questions he was never trained to ask. Through her, the rigid lines he once drew between predator and protector begin to blur in his mind.

In a city locked in an endless struggle, loyalty is fragile, truth is dangerous, and the world Itchirou thought he understood may already be broken.
