KODOMO follows the journey of MC Hada Takao and his friend, Emi Kumagai. Born into Settlement 999, Hada grew to become a reclusive as well as silent child - estranged from the rest of the Kids. However, all the Kids possess mental powers (each individually unique to themselves, their character).

Hada possessed an interesting ability: the ability to sense trustworthiness in people, which is a byproduct of his ability in sensing peoples' emotions. Due to his lonely upbringing, Hada despised socialising until a special Kid - named Emi - approaches him and introduces herself. Unbeknownst to Hada, she possessed the same power as him. 

They eventually become friends.
