I shouldn't have looked at her that way.

I knew it from the very first moment, from the way her pulse shattered the silence of the room.

She trusted me. She moved closer without fear, as if my darkness didn't exist. As if I wasn't the mistake.

"Why are you trembling?" she asked, brushing her hand against mine without fully touching it.

Because if I did-if I closed the distance-I wouldn't know how to stop.

Because her warmth made me remember something that no longer belonged to me: being alive.

I loved her in that moment.
And that was when I knew I had to walk away.
