Nila is a girl who is scared to show her true colors. She falls for a girl she's known for a few years, but has only come out of the closet to her closest friends. Being a fourteen year old freshmen she doesn't necessarily want to fit in, she just doesn't want to stand out. Shayleen on the other hand is the exact opposite. She is the sore thumb in a crowd. Her hair is black with a different color streak each week. She wears band-tees and black vans on a regular basis, where as Nila wears plain colored tops and shoes that are usually bought at Wal-Mart. Sha is lesbian to the core and Ni is bi. Will they get together? Or will their differences keep them apart?

Kyla and Holly are not meant to know each other, not meant to know the other ones secrets, not meant to be dating. Yet they do. The two girls have been secretly dating for over a year and nobody knows. While this has worked in their favour all this time, things are about to change. Kyla has always dreamed of becoming prom queen while Holly doesn't even know if she will go to prom. When Kyla's mom takes control of her prom queen campaign a series of events put Holly and Kyla's relationship to the test. With no-one to talk to about what is happening the stress on the relationship increases, pushing the pair beyond their breaking point. Kyla's high society popular friend group is of little help to her and Holly's middle class friends are at a loss for whats bothering her. With only a month to prom the girls face a lot of changes to their relationship as well as themselves. Can they make these changes for the better or is it one step to far for them both? The question is: How far is Kyla willing to go to win the crown?
