After her mother's untimely and tragic death, Crystal Swan moves in her father, Charlie. But she's not the only one. Her half-sister, Bella, moves in as well to finish out her senior year of high school and watch over her little sister. The Swan sisters make a pact to keep a low profile, until the lures of two Cullen brothers drag them deep into the mysteries hiding within Forks, Washington.

"I've been thinking about that story Jake told us on the beach." That sentence stopped in my tracks. After a few heartbeats, I slowly turn to face her.

"W-what?" I stammered.

"You know, the one about the cold ones."

I quickly cross the room and grab my sister by her shoulders. She looks startled by my sudden movement.

"Listen to me. You CANNOT repeat that story to anyone else."

Her eyes widened. "You believe it too? About the Cullens being-"

"Stop!" I let go of her shoulders. "Do you hear how crazy you sound?"

I turned away so I wouldn't lie to my sister's face. "There's no such thing as vampires."
