Jana Isabelle Gonzales is not impressed by the new transfer student. Not when he's blocking the hallway. Not when the entire school turns into a giggling disaster because of him.

Caleb Andrew Hizon arrives mid-July and suddenly everything is louder: crooked lines at flag ceremony, crowded corridors, the canteen turning into a circus, girls treating a glimpse of him like a school event.

Jana tries to ignore it all. She has grades to maintain, responsibilities to juggle, and a life that doesn't have room for schoolwide obsession.

Except she keeps running into him anyway. Not in the dramatic way people love to talk about, but in the ordinary way life arranges things.

And once their worlds overlap, the days begin to stack into moments: quick glances, passing hellos, group hangouts that keep rearranging themselves, conversations that start with nothing and end somewhere else entirely, and a routine that builds itself without asking permission.

By the time Jana realizes how often Caleb's name shows up in her week, it's already become normal. And normal can be the most dangerous thing of all.
