This story, "Kapangyarihan", is inspired by a certain AU of the same name, but after much thought, I decided to keep the title because it perfectly reflects the heart of the story - power, responsibility, and the collision of worlds that are never meant to meet.
It follows Annika Villarreal, the daughter of a powerful senator whose wealth and influence are built on a system she quietly despises. Though her last name carries prestige, Annika secretly walks a different path - volunteering, donating, and giving back to the people her family has long exploited. Her life of privilege is carefully curated to protect her family's image, yet her conscience pulls her toward truth and justice.
On the other side is a fierce, outspoken student activist, someone who has made it his life's mission to call out corruption, challenge political dynasties, and fight for the voiceless. He lives and breathes the struggle of ordinary Filipinos, never letting the system silence him.
When fate-or perhaps irony-pairs them together for a university project, their worlds collide. Sparks fly, ideologies clash, and emotions run deeper than either of them expected. Through rallies, debates, and stolen moments of vulnerability, they navigate the fine line between hatred and attraction, principle and heart.
This story is a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance, set against the backdrop of activism, social responsibility, and the harsh truths of power. It asks difficult questions about the choices we make, the lives we inherit, and the consequences of silence.
"Kapangyarihan" is for those who believe that love can bloom even in the midst of chaos, that hearts can fight for justice, and that even the privileged can find empathy - if only they dare to face the world beyond their windows.
