After the sirens fade

Kelly Severide is used to walking into burning buildings and walking back out again. What he isn't prepared for is the night that changes everything, the night he finds a mother and her 3 year-old daughter trapped inside a third-floor apartment, surrounded by smoke, flame, and collapsing walls.

In the chaos of the rescue, promises are made. Bonds are formed, and despite Kelly's desperate efforts, not everyone makes it out alive. But haunted by the promise he couldn't keep, he refuses to walk away.

When the sirens fade and ashes fall, grief remains.
