Winter, 1944. Deep in the forests of Germany, an American soldier Charles Jenkins finds himself cut off from his unit after a brutal skirmish. Hungry, wounded, and alone, he is ready to surrender to the wilderness-until he encounters a strangely helpful figure. The man looks human enough, offering food and guidance, but something about him is wrong. His movements are stilted, his voice hollow, his smile too still.
Unknowingly, the soldier has fallen under the shadow of a Nachzehrer-an undead predator born from Germanic folklore. At first it poses as a guide, but the soldier's gnawing unease soon grows into terror as the creature's true hunger reveals itself.
Just as the Nachzehrer prepares to strike, the soldier crosses paths with his unit's chaplain, a man whose faith and knowledge of ancient evils shine an unexpected light on the darkness around them. Together, soldier and chaplain must battle not just the horrors of war, but a supernatural enemy that blurs the line between man and monster.
In a frozen wilderness where death walks in many forms, survival will demand more than courage-it will demand confronting evil in both flesh and spirit.
