Alek scoffed at my proposal. "And you think that'll be enough for me?"

"It doesn't matter if it's enough for you or not," I retorted, pondering why I've kept the door to my apartment open for this long. "You have one night to make it enough."

He continued laughing in my face and I let him. I let him think I was amusing him. I let him consume all of my resolve as he raked his eyes across my body.

"Okay, Jaiden," he shrugged, stepping through the door, towering over me in both height and power. "One night."
