heavy crossbow, the weapon thudding into the dirt, forgotten.

fingers trembling against her skin.
"It's fire, Serafina! Your flesh is on fire!" He was spiraling, the cool, calculated Prince of Kirgash
replaced by a man staring at the possible death of the only thing that made him feel alive.
