Chasing Shadows

In the heavy, humid shadows of 1983, a girl from Jersey walks into Hawkins with eyes that see too much and a temper that spares no one. Devin was supposed to be a ghost in the machine, a girl behind a gas station counter handing out discounts to kids and loyalty to a boy who barely looked her way. But when the world begins to tear at the seams, she discovers that blood is thicker than the neon light of her storefront.
One night, a broken "King" wanders into her shop, bruised and abandoned. Under the flicker of fluorescent bulbs, a pact is made in the silence of cleaning wounds-a connection forged between two souls discarded by those they once loved.
As a trail of slime leads Devin into the dark heart of the woods, the hierarchy of high school dies, replaced by a desperate fight for survival. While one man treats her like a fragile memory, the other stands beside her in the fray, wielding a bat and watching the rhythm of her breath. In the middle of a war against the unknown, Devin must decide: will she keep chasing a shadow that has already moved on, or will she trust the boy who finally sees her in the dark?
