The rain in Chicago was a freezing, charcoal-colored drizzle that turned the industrial district into a labyrinth of shadows. Jake Moretti moved through the puddles like a ghost, his boots making no sound against the slick asphalt. He was twenty-five, but his eyes were ancient-hollowed out by the sheer weight of the bodies he'd had to drop to keep the world from finding Zylea and Tyler.
He had tracked Enzo "The Butcher" Valli to a decommissioned meatpacking warehouse near the docks. Enzo was the last of the "Old Guard," the man who had physically held the torch that set the Vance house ablaze twenty years prior.
