.❝novocane, novocane, novocane, for the pain for the pain for the pain, novocane.❞ 000. Karma hated men. she hates when men act like children. she hate when men call her a 'female'. she hates when men give tatrums, like we in the second grade or somethin'. she hated hearing her bestfriend, deb , talk about her wattpad worthy stories, like? pizza plate? ah, now we being unfair. all karma wanted was a man he was coo' for real. but no, everybody gotta have something. I guess that starts with the very one and only, Vincent hacker. [ew] From the start, Vincent and karma were close as can be. from a very young age, 18, the two found a vibe in each other, being able to confide and talk and plan out their dreams with another. in college, karma and vincent had always been inseparable. when they were little, they didn't just like to be big/famous they needed it. sleepovers turned into harmonies whispered under blankets. car rides where always fun, they became full concerts, or just everything more :) they'd sit cross legged on their dorm room floors, promising each other that one day they'd be big in life, in real time. And they meant it. of course, right. But even back then, there was a quiet difference. karma was always more dedicated, and true to word. she did her thing like she was breathing, very effortlessly. very easy. vinnie worked for it, he practiced, and worked until his head hurt. he compared. he analyzed. she tried to be effortless, but the trying was always there. even they were joking. especially their age. jokes weren't always taken lightly. that's where the crack began college they both made it to college, period. same campus, and the same dream. that's when it all became real. karma would joke around between classes, just messing around, and people would laugh, not because she asked them to, not because she tried. people liked her for that, she a kind hearted person who loved being the reason for smiles. can you trust someone? can yo

Quinn Taylor has made a career out of looking calm. On the ice, she's America's favorite kind of pressure-proof-bright smile, steady answers, the skater everyone wants to root for. Off the ice, she's an only child with a perfectionist's brain and a habit of carrying too much alone. The cameras love her. The country expects her. And the one place she can't afford to fall apart is the one place she's dreamed of since she was little. The Olympics. Macklin Celebrini has always made things feel lighter. He was the new kid at a Northern California rink at twelve-Canadian, polite, a little lost-until Quinn decided he was hers to keep. He became her best friend in the cold air and early mornings, the person who could make her laugh mid-breakdown and never ask her to perform for him. Then life did what life does: seasons changed, schedules got brutal, distance widened, and the kind of friendship that felt unbreakable turned into occasional texts and quiet missing. Now they're both back where the world is loudest. At the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, Quinn is chasing the skate of her life for Team USA. Mack is carrying his own weight for Team Canada hockey. When reporters find out they grew up together, the story writes itself-childhood friends reunited, smiles caught on camera, a thousand strangers deciding what they are to each other. The only problem is... the strangers aren't entirely wrong. Between past chapters at a small California rink and present days in the Olympic Village, Quinn and Mack have to figure out what they really meant to each other then-and what they're allowed to be now, with medals on the line and the whole world watching. Because it's one thing to love someone quietly from a distance. It's another to have them show up in your life again and make everything feel possible.
